Of course most of us right now are just smiling and being congratulatory and such, which we should. Politics is a battle and one side has to win. No matter how someone wins the ends is that they did win. I am not happy that we lost but I do see the positive things in this election.
This is a country where the balance of power has changed hands. The most powerful country in the world can be handed from one side of the aisle to the other without bloodshed or wars. This is a true testament to our great country. We also live in a country where a minority WITHOUT the help of welfare or government social programs can rise to the very top of the political system to be the commander in chief. This is something to be proud of. Anyone can be anything in this country if they truly want it and work for it.
But like these great truths of about our country there are even more important truths. Free speech and real equality to everyone. Obama in his presidential term will try to accomplish many things and two of them that stand out in my mind first and foremost are The Fairness Doctrine and the Freedom of Choice Act neither of which are fair or allow more freedom.
We must fight both of these on the internet and in our workplace. Just because Obama is the force of change, these two things must not be changed.
