Get ready to really pay for an airplane ride.

I know that many of you have noticed, thanks to the media, that suddenly the majority of our airline fleets are falling apart aka flying death traps.  I find it funny that these MD-80's have been in the air since the early 1980's, thoroughly checked out weekly (hourly) and now suddenly they could all explode in the air at any moment.

Bravo Southwest Airlines!  What a great move.  I also commend American, Delta and others for following suite so quickly.  Southwest was beautiful in their move.  "Hey, FAA, we got about 80 planes that we really have let go...**purr**"  So they tattle on themselves.  How American.  The FAA respects that also, and nails them with a $10 million dollar fine and grounds the planes.  Who gets it next?  Everyone!  Heck, ATA just decided to shut down.  Their own employees didn't realize it until they got to work.  They left thousands of people stranded today.  How much you wanna bet we  bail them out?  Poor ALOHA air.  If they had just held out a little longer.

SWA_MD_80 So why?  Here is why.  We, the airlines, can't afford to replace all these planes.  We know you have bailed our flying donkeys out before, but we are gonna need some BIG money to replace our fleets.  Yada, yada, yada and bingo, the United States is in the airline business.  The American people fork over $$$$$$ of tax dollars so that the airlines can continue to operate and make money...for their stock holders.  Much like Bear Stearns.  Yeah, go ahead and take $30 billion dollars of tax payers money and make sure J.P. Morgan can buy Bear Stearns so the stock holders can all make money.  The new plan?  More government control of the banking industry.  Which reminds me... anyone seen my little red book?

Wake up, it's here and we have been caught snoozing.  There won't be any shots fired.  We will all go quietly, watching our hard earned money roll down the road in the form of a sparkling purple 1989 Chevy Caprice with 22" chrome spinners and a glow-in-the-dark Cobra on the hood, turn into the Federally funded housing project.  At least we, the working class, will make sure our kids grow up and get good jobs so that 90% of the country can smoke meth and make more ignorant babies...  Oh da babies... day b da footure.
