And you people laughed at me...

Some said that my internet smell-a-vision was stupid.... PLEASE READ THIS!!!

Read it and weep...then duck ! - God can't be happy

House Republicans failed Wednesday to advance a bill protecting the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Only a day earlier, the GOP had placed the measure on its "American Values Agenda" in hopes of bolstering the party's prospects in the fall election.
Republicans could not muster a simple majority on the issue in a committee where they outnumber Democrats by six.

Convogi-happenings...

I think (therefore I am) that the current lack of posts could be blamed squarely on the following:

1. My internet connection is now directly reliant upon cell service, and I live in the boonies. Furthermore, since I haven't ordered a laptop yet, it's hard to blog from Atlanta without a computer.

2. Seashell is too busy reading books to even contemplate "getting online." I guess she cares more about the history of the spoon and its impact on Irish culture than good, old fashioned convogination.

3. eRIc... where is eRIc? We haven't had a good poop joke in ages. I lay the majority of the blame with eRIc and the lack of fecophelia...

4. I won't even bring up Paul, oh, I guess I just did... Paul's too busy being a playa.

5. Not sure about Raincheck, he's probably been camped out waiting on a ticket to Superman since May. (save me a seat!)

In an effort to revitalize the site, we need a good Convogi-something. A get together the likes of which haven't been seen since the second annual Weenie Roast and Oil Change. Surely we've sold another shirt by now and can afford two or three dollars worth of hot dogs...

My, where has the time gone ?

Happy Birthday, Matthew !

Yates should never be allowed to be happy again...

She is happy becuaes she was granted some waiver by the judge. I am glad she is so excited. This is a perfect position to have a gun placed in her mouth.

If you don't know, this is Andrea Yates:

Andrea Yates sobbed as prosecutors played a crime-scene videotape in court Tuesday showing her 7-year-old son floating dead in a bathtub and the bodies of her four younger children laid out on a bed.The murder trial is Yates' second in the drowning of her children. Her 2002 conviction was overturned last year because of erroneous testimony.

The defense says Yates suffered from severe postpartum psychosis and did not know that drowning the children was wrong.

Jurors also heard a detective's taped interview with Yates a few hours after the drownings. In a monotone voice, Yates answered Sgt. Eric Mehl's questions mostly with a quick, flat "yes" or "no." She said all the children struggled "a couple of minutes" as she drowned them. She said that Noah struggled the most violently and even escaped from the tub, but that "I got him."

Asked why she drowned them, Yates replied: "I guess I realized I had not been a good mother to them."

"What makes you say that?" Mehl asked.

"They were not developing correctly," Yates said.

Hmmm... Not developing correctly. This case should have taken a max of 2 weeks.

Oh, If you care...

There were many reasons to go to war with Iraq. It is somewhat sad that the current administration so focused on WMD's and didn't properly 'sell' the other very important reasons to go to war (freedom, democracy, rape camps, youth prisons, torture chambers, Al Qaeda to name few)

Now that the Military have found over 500 WMD's, I think that it is safe to say that is one topic that can be scratched off the list of debatable issues of going to Iraq. Every knew he had them becuase Saddam used chemical munitions many times.Pictures

The interesting thing is that some people are saying that these don't count since they were 'degraded munitions.' So? Are we now saying that Iraq created degraded munitions and not useable munitions? Good try, drive-by-media! I would love to see a left leaning blogger go ahead and open up one of those degraded muntions to prove to all of us that they are useless.

Read this. While this group has every right to not agree with the war, isn't it funny that degrading chemical weapons are a horrible thing if they are in the USA.

Please review what Bush has been saying since the inception, planning, and convincing he has done to get rid of a murderous dictator who possesed chemical weapons, was trying to obtain nuclear weapons, and sought the help of Al Qaeda in future attacks against the United States.

History will be the great 'embarrassor' to some.

Where have all the bloggers gone???

So I guess we are finally finished? 4 years is a pretty good run though. Its hard to believe that everyone is content and has nothing to say... Oh well...I'm going to the NBA!!

We are winning...

A few questions.

Is the world as bad as it was after WWI or WWII?
Is destroying Facism as hard as Terrorism?
Which war took more America lives: WWI, WWII, or Global War on Terrorism?

One statement:

They rose up quickly to take up Osama bin Laden's call for jihad, ruthless men in their 20s and 30s heralded as the next generation of global terror. Two years later, 40 percent are dead, targets of a worldwide crackdown that claimed its biggest victory with the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, al-Qaida's front man in Iraq.

---News Story

40% !!!

If America lost 40% of deployed troops, how would that be affecting us? I am pretty sure that Bush would be impeached and in jail and we would never go to war again. We WILL win, we will NOT cut and run. We HAVE to keep our focus. We can NOT trust leftist and Democrats to our national security. They are more worried about a crazy zealot getting beat up by American soldiers then the 3000 Americans that were murdered or the safety of hundreds of millions of Americans. If I hear the crack pot theory that American Soldiers took al-Zarqawi off the stretcher and "jumped on his chest and made blood came out of his nose", I will scream. If they found him alive, by military rules he is not an "active combatent", he is a wounded POW. They are required to keep him alive for multiple purposes: Information being one of them and just basic military laws as another. This is an attempt to yet again deface and demean the military for the express purposes of causing America to lose another Vietnam and then to subsequently gain power. Pitiful.

In the back of my mind... And then my mind wanders.

http://iraqitruthproject.com

Found a great little site. I hope that everyone watches the short (about 25 Minutes) movie on this site about the making of this Documentary.
Making of the Movie Short WARNING: There are some disturbing images in this short.

Here is some interesting tidbits:
  • The Baath Party was started by Arab Christians to join together Arabs and Christians in Iraq.

  • Sadaam dressed up like a women and attempted to assisasinate the leader of Iraq. He subsequently had to flee to Egypt.

All of this aside, what interests me is the way I felt when I watched this short. When I watch History Channel documentaries, I just sit back and take in the information. I don't think about what I believe to be true; I just enjoy the documentary. For some reason I have these little doubts in my mind that question all of this. For some reason I want to see it with my own eyes, but I take the holocaust at face value. The images and videos I have seen of emaciated Jews being poured into mass graves, leaves me with only anger and befuddlement, but when I see these same images (and some images that are more horrifying) concerning Kurds or Sunnis being treated the same inhumane way, I have doubt. Why? It is because of what we are fed every single day: Bush is evil. Bush is causing more terrorism. Sadaam wasn't that bad. We should have never gone in there in the first place.

It is going to be quite interesting to see this moment in History in 30 years. Sadaam murdered and tortured about a million people, but all we are left with at this present moment in time is this confusing mass of media and spin. What did people think when they first started to see the images from Auschwitz? What did they think before they saw those images? Was there doubt when we were storming Normandy? Was there doubt when we were in the 15th year of rebuilding Germany and the rest of Europe? How about all the time that we spent in Japan after the bombs were dropped? Was the media like it is now?

America is one last vestiges of almost pure freedom and blessings. We are so amazingly fortunate to be here in this country. Manteca made a great point concering Steve Colbert's stand-up at the White House Correspondent's Association dinner. While some of it was funny, most of it was really rude and just went too far. Even most liberals think that he took it too far. But the point that Manteca made was that this could only happen in free countries like America where a comedian can completely emabarrass the leader of the most powerful country in the world and live. After his train wreck of a stand-up act (labeled by some as genius) was finished, Bush sctually shook his hand and told him he did a good job (Colbert said later that this was the case). What do you think Stalin, Hitler, or Sadaam would have done?

Bush's Stand-up with Steven Bridges at the White House Correspondent's Association dinner.

Steven Colbert's Train Wreck
The people who put this together really have no clue. I might have walked out if I was Bush.

Is it always doom and gloom?!?

The stock market:
Wall Street finished its worst week of the year with a moderate decline Friday as persistent unease over inflation and interest rates kept investors nervous about buying. According to Foxnews!
I mean it only closed at 10,891.92! The freaking thing is over 10,000!!!! I know people that never expected to see it over 7,000 again in their lifetime! Get a freaking grip and raise the spirits of this country with your crappy media!!! No wonder our troops don't want to come home...home to what?

Then again...just my opinion.

Taxes Made Simple...

TAX CUTS - A SIMPLE LESSON IN ECONOMICS
AUTHOR UNKNOWN

Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh $7.
The eighth $12.
The ninth $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20." So, now dinner for the ten only cost $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So, the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six, the paying customers?
How could they divvy up the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share'?

The six men realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being 'PAID' to eat their meal. So, the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man "but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table anymore. There are lots of good restaurants in Europe and the Caribbean.
